As a Worldwide TOP Partner of the Olympic Movement, Acer is not only part of the most prestigious expression of man’s excellence but can also showcase its own excellence through technology and innovation.
Excellence is first of all expressed in the hardware infrastructure which is the driving force of Olympic Games. Acer is providing more than 6.200 desktop and laptops and 4.700 monitors and more than 100 engineers and technicians. Thanks its computer equipment and its technicians Acer will be able to support the flawless management of what is probably the most complex sport event in the world.
It is an infrastructure with a ‘green’ spirit. Acer has a long history of commitment towards environment protection and its investments in research and development are substantial, because the company strongly believes in the need to find out new solutions that are at the same time innovative and respectful of the environment. This is why Acer has launched the initiative ‘Trees for Green’: for a certain amount of personal computers sold, the company is committed to plant a proportional number of trees, thereby reducing the world's resources consumption.
Acer also aims to be at the fore-front to assure an unforgettable experience to those who visit Vancouver to assist to Olympic Games and want to enjoy the emotion of exploring the new frontiers reached by technology.
Starts from here a route through 3 main areas, each with a specific meaning:
The Acer Pavilion Showcase in Vancouver, at LiveCity YaleTown Olympic Site, will offer Acer the opportunity to share its vision of the pursuit of excellence in sports and technology. A 600-square-meter interactive showcase leads visitors on a journey through the outstanding accomplishments that challenge the limits of human capabilities.
Visitors can also find out their perfect winter sports and test their Olympic knowledge with the Body Machine. They will then get a virtual card with their athletic profile.
The Acer Internet Cafés, located within the Olympic Villages in Vancouver and Whistler, provide athletes with almost 100 fully-equipped stations with broadband Internet access, printer capabilities and social networking applications, all in a comfortable and relaxed environment, where they can catch up with friends and family. Two of the four Acer Internet Cafés will be open 24 hours a day, while Acer’s on-site support staff and service technicians provide customer support.
The Hospitality Program: a real treat for Acer special guests. To celebrate its position as a first time Worldwide Partner of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, Acer devised the Hospitality Program to gift its guests with an unforgettable experience and share with them the unique moments of this extraordinary sport event. Top Customers, top level attendees from strategic partner companies, Government representatives for a total number of more than 400 delegates from 44 different countries from all over the globe, will enjoy the most exciting winter event. Specific program includes: opening and closing ceremonies, participation to all main sport events, leisure activities: everybody is special for Acer.
Excellence also means to sustain people who pursue Excellence in their daily activities. This is why Acer has decided to associate its name to those of athletes who have distinguished themselves for having reached the top in their discipline. Acer has signed a sponsorship agreement with the Norwegian Ski Federation, and with two great champions as Norwegian Alpine skier Aksel Lund Svindal and Australian freestyle skier Lydia Lassila. Not only single athletes but Acer also sponsors entire teams such as the Chinese and the Norwegian, and supports the German, American and Russian houses thanks to its technological supplies: in those Houses guests have the opportunity to borrow an Acer notebook to check e-mail, surf the internet being always in touch with friends, fans and families.
"The true nature of technology is its ability to transform people’s lives and allow each person to express their own individual excellence” - states Gianpiero Morbello, Acer Inc. Corporate VP Marketing & Brand – “Since its origin, Acer has cultivated a passion for excellence through the development of innovative, user-friendly technology that brings out the very best in people. It has been this shared passion that has brought Acer and the Olympic Games together.”
